Drastic anti-COVID-19 measures to be put in place to ensure a safe high school graduation exam

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung, who is the deputy head of the municipal Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control, chaired an online meeting with district- and commune-level authorities on July 7 regarding measures against the pandemic.

Reporting the COVID-19 outbreak in My Duc District, the representative of the local authority said that after five members of a family in An My Commune tested positive for SARS-Cov-2 on July 5, the district’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 prevention and control has asked functional forces to take drastic measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

 

According to the district, at four university admission exam centers, all preparations have been completed in line with the schedule to ensure that the high school graduation exam will take place in proper and safe manner.

 

All candidates who are coronavirus carriers or  first generation contact have been traced and they will sit the exam in the second phase.

 

According the authority of Dong Anh district, relating to new cases of COVID-19 detected in SEI Company in Bac Thang Long Industrial Park, the local task forces have traced and zoned off virus-hit areas. Those who had close contact with the patients have sampled for COVID-19 testing.

 

The district will continue to test workers in the industrial park and perform mass screening in surrounding areas.

 

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, the agency in collaboration with local authorities and management boards of trade centers and supermarkets requested business facilities to strictly abide by COVID-19 prevention and control protocol.

 

The city’s public security has enhanced inspection and handled cases violating COVID-19 prevention rules.

 

Making conclusion at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung said that ten community infections were reported on July 5 in Hanoi, breaking a 10-day caseless streak.

 

Hanoi is at very high risk of COVID-19 spreading due to the complex situation of the pandemic in cities and provinces nationwide as well as the rapid spread of the Delta mutation, he underlined.

 

According to the official, from 0:00 on June 26, the municipal authorities relaxed restrictions to help people resume livelihoods provided that people remain vigilant in disease prevention and control.

 

However, the locals were not strictly following disease prevention and control regulations, with some failing to keep safe distances,  to close restaurants after 9pm and opening street-side drink stalls, he noted.

 

Dung called on citizens to continue taking COVID-19 prevention and control measures seriously, only go out in very necessary situations and submit health declarations after returning  from COVID-19-hit areas.

 

He assigned competent authorities and relevant units to review concentrated quarantine areas for F1 cases. Local governments must be held responsible for ensuring  safety in COVID-19 quarantine camps.

 

Regarding the high school graduation exam, the vice chairman asked the Department of Education and Training to inspect preparations for the exam in districts of Ung Hoa, My Duc and Dong Anh.

 

He requested for detailed scenarios to respond to the different evolution of the pandemic and deal with arising problem during the examinations.

 

Dung also assigned district-level authorities to inspect enforcement of COVID-19 prevention and control regulations in facilities providing catering services, shopping malls and supermarkets, and tighten management of returnees from coronavirus-affected regions.
