European countries are waiting for the proposal from the European Commission (EC) with the hope of approving it before the end of this month.

Officials discussed a proposal to cap imported gas prices, with an idea to limit the prices of all imports, not just those from Russia. The EU ministers call for an urgent push to intervene in energy market and limit revenues of energy companies.

They recommended that the EC proposes measures to reduce electricity demand across the EU and to help address liquidity problems in energy markets.

It is expected that the European energy ministers will meet at the end of this month.
