Gender equality respected in Vietnam’s policies

Gender equality is always respected in Vietnam’s national policies, Le Thi Minh Thoa, Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam at the UN, said at Tuesday’s meeting of the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Affairs Committee during the UN General Assembly’s 77th Session. Thoa called on countries to include gender equality and women’s empowerment in their national planning and policy making to ensure that women and girls have equal and full participation.

Thoa said countries need to prevent or eliminate all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls. She called on international organisations and development partners to continue helping UN members fulfill their commitments to protect the rights of women and girls.
