Israel’s President makes first Bahrain visit

Israeli President Isaac Herzog was in Bahrain on Sunday for the first state visit by an Israeli president, according to Israel’s President’s Office.

Israel-Bahrain relations have improved since the two countries joined the Abrahamic Accords in 2020 to normalize relations between Israel and the Muslim/Gulf countries, for which the US served as a key mediator.

Before that, Egypt and Jordan were the only two countries in the region that had relations with Israel.

After signing the Accords, Israel-Bahrain trade grew steadily and reached  7.5 million USD last year. Israel’s exported stone products, precious metals, and diamonds and imported base metals, minerals, and petrochemicals.
