Moscow ‘not threatening anyone’ with nuclear weapons, says Deputy FM

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Friday that Russia was not threatening anybody with nuclear weapons, and that open confrontation with the United States and NATO was not in Russia’s interests, state news agencies reported.

The criteria for nuclear weapons use are outlined in Russia’s military doctrine, Ryabkov said.

The same day, Russia’s ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, said Rusia and the US are not on the verge of a collapse into the abyss of a nuclear conflict.
