North Korea continues missile launches

South Korea’s National Security Council (NSC) expressed concern about North Korea’s launch of two short-range ballistic missiles into its eastern waters in early Sunday morning. Yonhap news agency reports that South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol was notified shortly after the North launched the missiles and National Security Adviser Kim Sung-han convened a meeting of the NSC.

The launches were carried out from the Munchon area in Gangwon province of North Korea. The two missiles flew 350 km and reached a maximum altitude of about 90 km and a maximum speed of Mach 5.

Kyodo news agency quoted Japanese officials as saying that both missiles fell outside North Korea’s exclusive economic zone.

Tokyo is analyzing whether these are submarine-launched ballistic missiles or not.
