North Korea’s military said on Monday that recent South Korea-US military exercises were an “open provocation and dangerous war drill,” and it responded with measures simulating striking their air bases and warplanes, state media KCNA said. Last week, North Korea test-fired a possible failed intercontinental ballistic missile and hundreds of artillery shells into the sea, as South Korea and the United States carried out six days of air drills.

Last Friday, North Korea expressed concern about South Korea and the US prolonging their Vigilant Storm air drill and vowed to respond to any attempt to infringe on its sovereignty, cause damage, or harm its national security interests.
