Party leader arrives in Beijing, starting China visit

 

 Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and his entourage arrived in Beijing on Sunday afternoon, starting his official visit to China at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping. Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to China took place after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China ended successfully and a new leadership was elected with Mr. Xi Jinping being re-elected Party leader for the 3rd term.

Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong is the first foreign leader visiting China which shows the importance of the relations between Vietnam and China and between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of China.

The visit demonstrates Vietnam’s consistent policy of respecting ties with China and considering China a top priority in Vietnam’s external policy. It also shows that Vietnam wishes to develop long-standing, stable, effective, practical relationship with China as agreed by the two countries’ leaders.

The visit also reflects Vietnam’s support for the development ideology and guidelines set out at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China which are beneficial for peace, cooperation and development, and the important leadership role of Party General Secretary Xi Jinping. The visit will promote China’s policy on friendship and cooperation with Vietnam and support for Vietnam, its growing international status, and successful realization of the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

An official welcome ceremony for Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong will be held at the People’s Great Hall in Beijing on Monday and will be hosted by the Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

After the welcome ceremony, the two Party leaders will hold talks and witness the signing of several important agreements.
