President Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Monday attended a get-together of former southern students who were sent to the North for study during the war. The event was held at Reunification Hall in Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the complete liberation of the South and national reunification April 30.

President Phuc emphasized that School for Southern Students is one of the successful models of Vietnam’s revolutionary education and training. The achievements and lessons learned from this model have called leaders a way of thinking to fundamentally and comprehensively renew Vietnam’s education and training, to meet the needs of national industrialization and modernization in the context of a socialist-oriented market economy and extensive international integration.

The President suggested that the Southern Central Student Liaison Committee and its affiliates continue to have many practical and meaningful activities, promote the tradition of solidarity and gratitude, and spread the pride of alumni for future generations to follow, towards the 70th Anniversary of Southern School in the North in 2024.
