President Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended a ceremony to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the National Assembly’s Defense and Security Committee on Friday in Hanoi. Over the past 30 years, the Committee has participated in revising the 1992 Constitution, formulating the 2013 Constitution, especially the regulations on national defense, the armed forces, and the National Defense and Security Council.

Congratulating the Committee, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested that the Committee play a more active part in  building and completing the laws, resolutions and ordinances in the assigned fields, improve the criticality of verification reports, and ensure the progress, quality, feasibility and consistency of documents submitted to the National Assembly and its Standing Committee.

“In the coming time, with the spirit of proactiveness, the Defense and Security Committee and other committees will promote the sense of responsibility and wisdom of the Committee members, study and submit to the National Assembly the draft laws and resolutions, contributing to the improvement of the institution,” Mr. Hue said.

The National Assembly Chairman requested the Committee to strengthen coordination with relevant ministries such as the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to advise the National Defense and Security Council on participating in the United Nations peacekeeping missions in compliance with international regulations, treaties, agreements and practices to which Vietnam is a member.
