President Nguyen Xuan Phuc  met outgoing Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam Dato Sharifah Norhana Syed Mustaffa in Hanoi on Thursday. In his address, the President praised the Ambassador for her great contributions to boosting the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Malaysia. He highlighted the two countries’ cooperation at regional and global forums.

He urged the two countries to work more closely with each other and with other ASEAN countries to maintain the organization’s solidarity, common voice, and central role, ensure peace, security, and stability in the East Sea, and promote the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea and the negotiation of the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea in a practical, effective manner in line with international law including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The Malaysian Ambassador said she hoped the two countries will uplift their bilateral cooperation, especially trade and investment ties to a new height
