Russia won’t wait endlessly for security deal with US, NATO

Russia needs legally-binding security guarantees from the US and the NATO because political commitments made in the 1990s have never been respected by its Western partners, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Friday at an annual major press conference reviewing Russia’s diplomatic activities in 2021.

Russia has already had clear proposals with the US and NATO and is waiting for a quick, specific, and written response, ready for all scenarios.

Minister Lavrov said if the US and NATO don’t approve Russia’s security proposals, including attempts to expand NATO, Russia will retaliate differently. How it will retaliate will be suggested by military officials to the President, Larov added. He affirmed Russia’s patience has been exhausted.
