Singaporean businesses eye investment in Vietnam

The Singapore Business Federation (SBF) held a webinar on Friday to inform Singaporean businesses about Vietnam’s investment climate and preferential policies.

At the webinar from the FYIstival ASEAN edition, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said Vietnam has attracted investors from more than 140 countries and territories.

Singapore has been Vietnam’s biggest investor for years but it was the biggest one in the first half of 2021 with a total investment of 5.64 billion USD. Vietnam and Singapore have a firm legal basis for cooperation. They have already had bilateral agreements and are members of many multilateral agreements, which are favorable for businesses from the two countries to expand their partnership.

Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam recommended that education, training, fintech, e-wallet, and e-commerce in Vietnam should be the most lucrative sectors for Singaporean investors.
