South Korea joins NATO cyber defense center

South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) became a member of a Cyber Defense Center of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the state agency said on Thursday. It is the first Asian country joining the group.

According to NIS, it has been admitted to NATO Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, a cyber defense group based in Tallinn, Estonia and represents South Korea in training and research activities.

NIS said that they plan to send more employees to the Center and expand the scope of joint exercises to reinforce their cyber defense capabilities.
