US, South Korea discuss restarting dialogue with North Korea

– Senior officials from South Korea and the United States held talks in Washington on Monday on ways to restart a dialogue with North Korea, the South Korean Foreign Ministry said. The two sides discussed the current situation on the Korean Peninsula, prospects for humanitarian cooperation, and the potential for dialogue with North Korea, the Ministry said in a press release.

The meeting demonstrated the shared commitment of the United States and the South Korea to achieving complete denuclearization and permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.

US Special Envoy for North Korea Sung Kim said they will continue to discuss ways to bring North Korea back to the table.

US-North Korea denuclearization negotiations have been deadlocked since their 2019 summit.
