US State Department says Ukraine’s NATO entry unlikely in next decade

– US State Department senior officials have told Ukraine that its NATO membership is “unlikely to be approved in the next decade”, according to a person familiar with the private talks who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Associated Press news agency said on Thursday.

In early September, German Ambassador to Ukraine Anka Feldgusen said the military conflict in Donbass and the Crimea issue are obstacles to Ukraine’s entry into NATO.

In an interview with Ukrainian TV channel 1+1, she said the fact remains that there is a military conflict in Ukraine and it is always difficult for NATO to accept new countries where there are such conflicts.
