The Vietnamese Party and State always strive to perfect policies and laws to ensure gender equality and empowerment for women, thus creating favorable conditions for them to access and take part in social life, and expand their role in the armed forces, said spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang at the Ministry’s online press conference on Thursday. Hang answered reporters’ questions about women’s participation in Vietnam’s coast guard.

She said Vietnam’s efforts to ensure gender equality have been recognized and praised by the international community.

According to Hang, female coast guard service members have fulfilled their assigned tasks, helped realize the Party and State’s commitment to be a responsible member of the international community, and stood ready to help deal with international issues, and maintain an environment of peace, security, and stability for the sake of cooperation and development in the region and the world.
