Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on Sunday described German Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s visit to Vietnam as important milestone in relations between the two countries. Receiving the Chancellor in Hanoi, Mr. Trong said Vietnam attaches importance to its strategic partnership with Germany and suggested that the two sides capitalize on their past achievements and continue to promote cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples, for peace, cooperation and global development.

Chancellor Scholz said Germany attaches importance to the Germany-Vietnam strategic partnership and to Vietnam’s international role. He outlined plans for implementing the partnership, and agreed to strengthen cooperation in energy transition, supply chain diversification, and defense and security.
