Workshop on sustainable development of Long An tourism in the period of 2022-2025, vision to 2030

On the morning of September 20, 2022, the Provincial People’s Committee held a seminar on sustainable development of Long An tourism in the period of 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030. Attending were the Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, the Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council – Nguyen Van Duoc; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee – Pham Tan Hoa; Deputy Director of Travel Department, General Department of Tourism – Nguyen Dao Dung and officials, lecturers, researchers, experts in tourism; tourism businesses inside and outside the province.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Council – Nguyen Van Duoc said that Long An is a land rich in revolutionary traditions with many historical-cultural relics and tourism resources with diverse natural calendar. In recent years, the Party Committee, government and people in the province have always strived to make tourism a spearhead economic sector, however, in fact, the province’s tourism has not yet met the needs of tourists; still limited in the promotion and advertising of tourism. Through this conference, he expected the delegates to give sincere, open and frank comments on the development of Long An tourism in order to have more necessary scientific documents, as a basis for the province to continue. continue to have policies to orient and direct solutions to develop the tourism industry in the coming time.

The seminar took place with the aim of assessing the current situation, potential, strengths and limitations of Long An tourism over the past time. Thereby, polling, collecting information, ideas, solutions and investment orientations of managers, scientists, researchers, experts in tourism and tourism businesses in the region. and outside the province in order to develop Long An tourism, creating an important premise for the sustainable development of Long An tourism in the period of 2022 – 2025, with a vision to 2030.

In the first 6 months of 2022, the tourism industry of Long An province has shown signs of recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, such as: Welcoming 235,000 domestic tourists, reaching 56 percent of the plan (down 13 percent compared to the same period last year), revenue is estimated at 120 billion dong, reaching 53 percent of the plan (down 14 percent over the same period). As of August 2022, the province’s tourism industry has welcomed 300,000 visitors, with a revenue of 150 billion VND.

At the workshop, the delegates presented a presentation report on the sustainable historical-cultural heritage “capital” of Long An tourism; digital transformation – the driving force for sustainable tourism development in the province; potential, orientation to build specific tourism products in Long An and the principles of convergence in the development of festival tourism from the perspective of Long An tourism development. Many opinions were discussed closely with the actual situation of the province, from assessing the current situation of tourism to researching and orienting targets and solutions for tourism growth; potential, orientation to develop specific tourism products; solutions to link tourism development, develop tourism human resources of the province as well as some other urgent solutions for Long An tourism to take off.

Speaking at the conclusion of the workshop, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee – Pham Tan Hoa sincerely thanked and acknowledged the contributions and suggestions of managers, researchers, and tourism businesses. He emphasized that this is really valuable knowledge, which is the basis for all levels and sectors in the province to continue researching, overcoming difficulties, and gradually turning tourism into an important economic sector of Long An.

He said that in the coming time, the province will focus on synchronous, focused and key investment to continue to improve transport infrastructure and social infrastructure for tourism development. Promote the implementation of tourism socialization, create favorable conditions for mechanisms, policies, administrative procedures and support services for all economic sectors to participate in tourism development investment. At the same time, he wished the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism – the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association and the Mekong Delta Tourism Association would continue to support Long An province in the future. the strengthening of tourism development links, tourism promotion. He believes that the tourism potential of Long An will be exploited with the right value, the tourism industry will develop sustainably, quickly, strongly and breakthrough in quality, creating a great source of revenue for the province’s budget.
