First Australia Vietnam Policy Institute launched

The first Australia Vietnam Policy Institute debuted in Melbourne, Australia, on Tuesday.

The institute is a dedicated knowledge portal and a collaborative platform to deepen the strategic relationship between the two countries.

In his remarks, Australian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment Dan Tehan said Australia views Vietnam as an important partner for maintaining the rule of law and implementing bilateral and multilateral economic and trade agreements. He said he hopes that the Institute will contribute to bilateral ties and regional prosperity.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Nguyen Tat Thanh said he believes that the Institute will raise public awareness of the importance of the Vietnam-Australia relationship and help businesses explore opportunities in each other’s markets.

The Institute is scheduled to host a round table discussion on Vietnam’s digital economy, e-commerce, and financial technology in May, and a conference in July on trade cooperation for sustainable development in Vietnam and Australia.
