Hanoi continues to support development of industrial parks

On December 28, the Hanoi Industrial and Export Processing Zones Authority (HIZA) held an on-site investment promotion conference in industrial parks in Hanoi in 2022. Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen attended the conference.  Currently, there are 9 operating industrial zones in Hanoi with a total area of 1,670.6 hectares (ha). Of which, 3 industrial parks  are under construction with a total area of 663.4 ha, including: Quang Minh II Industrial Park (160 ha); Hanoi Bio-High-Tech Park (200.6 ha); Soc Son Clean Industrial Park (302.8 ha). Other 3 with a total area of 586.8 ha are in the process of applying for investment licenses, including: Dong Anh Industrial Park (300 ha); Bac Thuong Tin Industrial Park (112ha); Phung Hiep Industrial Park (174.8 ha).

Right from the beginning of the year, HiZA has actively been working closely with companies operating in industrial parks to address their concern and difficulties; at the same time, actively advise the City People’s Committee to create favorable policies for their operation.

In addition, HIZA also coordinated with the People’s Committees of districts and the health sector to implement Covid-19 prevention measures in association with safe working regulations within the industrial parks.

Following the direction of the City People’s Committee, HIZA has reviewed and proposed a plan to reduce the processing time (from 3-7 days) to carry out administrative procedures in the field of investment and construction planning, management of enterprises and employees through digital platforms. In particular, HIZA has issued a new investment certificate for one FDI project in the South Hanoi Supporting Industrial Park in 24 hours, which was recognized and highly appreciated by investors.

In 2022, investment capital into the city’s industrial parks and export processing zones will reached US$359.5 million, an increase of 20% compared to 2021.

Up to now, industrial zones in Hanoi have attracted 706 projects, all  are currently in operation, of which there are 302 foreign direct investment projects with registered capital of over $6.4 billion and 404 domestic investment projects with registered capital of over VND18.6 trillion.

Regarding business results, the revenue in 2022 of enterprises in industrial zones is estimated at $8.1 billion, up 4.1% over the same period in 2021; contribution to the State budget is estimated at $300 million, up 9.6% over the same period in 2021; export turnover is estimated at over $5.1 billion, up 4.3% over the same period in 2021.

Investment and business results in Hanoi industrial zones have made an important contribution to the industrial sector as well as socio-economic development of the city, resulting in the city’s high budget revenue and creating jobs for about 16,600 workers with stable income.

Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen said the city plans to develop 14 more industrial zones, of which from now to 2025, 5-7 industrial zones will be developed,  helping to attract new investors as well as create conditions for existing businesses to expand production and business.

“Hanoi is committed to continuing to accompany investors in the process of investment, production and doing business in Hanoi,” Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen affirmed.
