Hanoi’s 10 outstanding highlights in 2022

 

 In 2022, Hanoi’s socio-economic development has progressed strongly with positive results. Here is the list by Hanoi Portal of the 10 highlights that have contributed to the city’s progress.  

  1. Innovating the leadership method of the Party committees, authorities and the city’s political system; focusing on improving the quality of Party members

Party committees, authorities and political system at all levels continue to promote unity, innovate leadership methods in scientific and democratic direction.

The City Party Committee issued the working regulations of the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and  the Party Committee with the principle of clear people, clear tasks and clear responsibilities. The local authorities have been focusing on solving difficult problems, key tasks and strategies of the capital.

After being approved by the municipal People’s Council, Hanoi has launched the project on decentralization of state administration in the city, and a Resolution on decentralization of state management in a number of socio-economic areas in the city. In these, the main objective is to authorize the city and district levels to resolve 634 administrative procedures, or 35.5% of administrative procedures.

  1. The Politburo issues Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW on the objectives for Hanoi’s development to 2030, vision to 2045

On May 5, 2022, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW on the objectives for Hanoi’s development until 2030, with a vision to 2045, in which the goal is for Hanoi to fulfil its role as the national political-administrative hub, a major center of economy, culture, education and training, science and technology and international integration.

The resolution expects Hanoi to become a smart, modern, green, clean, beautiful, secure and safe city. The development of Hanoi would serve as the growth driving force for the Red River Delta, the Northern key economic region and the whole country.

On August 26, 2022, the Hanoi Party Committee issued action program No. 16-CTr/TU to implement Resolution No. 15-NQ/TW, identifying four main purposes, requirements, and target groups. Accordingly, Hanoi will accelerate economic restructuring associated with growth model innovation, at the same time serving as a national cultural hub. This is a program of special significance, and a legal basis to create a driving force for the development of Hanoi from now to 2030 and 2045.

  1. Hanoi’s GRDP growth in 2022 reaches the highest level in the last 10 years

In 2022, Hanoi has comprehensively completed all 22 socio-economic targets, of which, 5  exceeded the plan. Total state budget revenue in the area reached 106.8% of the estimate, up 2.7% compared to 2021. In addition, the city’s GRDP growth reached 8.89%, the highest  in the last 10 years.

Production, business, trade, tourism and service activities recovered with many positive indicators. In particular, attracting foreign investment (FDI) reached US$1.69 billion, a sharp increase compared to 2021. The number of newly registered enterprises increased by 23% compared to 2021.

  1. Speedy implementation of the Ring Road No.4 – Hanoi Capital Region

After one year of preparation, the investment project to build Ring Road 4 – Hanoi Capital Region was approved by the National Assembly under the Resolution No. 56/2022/QH15, dated June 16, 2022. The section in Hanoi is designed to have length of 58.2 out of 112.8 kilometers passing through 7 districts: Soc Son, Me Linh, Hoai Duc, Dan Phuong, Thanh Oai, Thuong Tin and Ha Dong.

The Hanoi Party Committee has issued Resolution No. 07-NQ/TU on the implementation of the Ring Road 4 – Hanoi Capital Region. Up to now, the whole political system of the city, especially 7 districts in the project area, has been focusing on carrying out site clearance work to implement the project on schedule, with the determination start the project in June 2023.

  1. Hanoi develops cultural industry into a spearhead economic sector

Implementing the conclusion of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference in 2021 and Program 06-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on cultural development, building elegant and civilized Hanoians, the capital has issued resolution No. 09-NQ/TU, dated February 22, 2022 on “Developing the cultural industry in the capital area for the period 2020-2025, vision to 2045” .

  1. Hanoi contributes to the success of SEA Games 31

Hanoi is honored to host SEA Games 31’s opening and closing ceremonies, as well as 18 sports. This is the second time after nearly 2 decades that Hanoi lived the vibrant atmosphere of a SEA Games and actively contributed to the country’s sporting achievements.

The Hanoi sports delegation competed in 36/40 medal events at the 31st SEA Games, winning a total of 151/446 medals of the Vietnam Sports Delegation.

  1. Hanoi’s education and training sector undergo major transformation, leading the country in national and international competitions for in terms of prizes.

Hanoi’s education sector has undergone comprehensive transformations at all levels. The scale of education continues to expand. The quality of teachers and educational administrators has been improved, along with reform in preschool and general education programs.

  1. Hanoi leads the country in the number of OCOP products

From 2019 to now, the city has 1,649 OCOP products, leading the country in the number of OCOP products, including: four 5-star products; two potential 5-star products; 11 potential 5-star products of 2020 have been submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for consideration, evaluation and classification; 1,098 4-star products and 534 3-star products. In which, the food industry has 1,071 products, the beverage industry has 35 products, the herbal industry has 17 products, the handicraft industry has 492 products, and the textile and garment industry has 34 products.

  1. Hanoi – The World’s leading City Tourism Destination in 2022

With the border restriction lifting from March 15, 2022, Hanoi tourism begins to welcome international tourists, while domestic tourism has also grown strongly.

Hanoi tourism recovered steadily after the pandemic. In 2022, the total number of tourists to Hanoi   reached 18.7 million arrivals, an increase of 4.7 times compared to 2021. Of which, international arrivals will reach 1.5 million, and domestic tourists of 17.2 million arrivals, up 4.3 times compared to 2021.

Total revenue from tourism reached over VND60 trillion, up 5.3 times compared to 2021.

  1. Ensuring security and safety for nearly 2,000 important events in the capital

In 2022, Hanoi continues to   host many important national and international events. The security forces have ensured absolute security and safety of key targets and areas, activities of Party and State leaders and nearly 2,000 political, diplomatic, cultural and social events taking place in the capital.

National security continues to be maintained and stable; social order and safety are ensured; traffic safety and urban order have seen many positive changes. Hanoi has become one of the safest destinations in the world.
