Hanoi helps 1,000 workers back to their hometown ahead of Tet

On January 19, the Hanoi Labor Confederation coordinated with the Department of Transport and the Transport Corporation of Hanoi to help more than 1,000 workers from Hanoi Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones return to their hometowns ahead of the upcoming Tet.  Attending the seeing-off ceremony was  Member of the Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Le Hong Son and Vice Chairman of the City People’s Council Pham Qui Tien.

In the past 16 years, along with organizing activities such as Tet reunion; Trade Union Tet Market; Hanoi Trade Union has provided free bus tickets for union members, workers to return home to celebrate Tet with their families.

The fact that the Hanoi Trade Union at all levels actively participates in supporting many free bus trips for disadvantaged workers to return to their hometown to celebrate Tet has contributed to creating a close relationship between workers and their companies, encouraging workers to work harder, emulating to improve productivity – product quality. This eventually leads to improvements in the competitiveness of each enterprise, contributing to socio-economic development of Hanoi.

Chairman of the Hanoi Confederation of Labor Pham Quang Thanh said: “The City Trade Union at all levels organizes this activity, thereby creating a positive sentiment among workers ahead of the upcoming Tet. In the upcoming 2023 Lunar New Year, there are thousands of bus trips coordinated by businesses with grassroots trade unions to bring workers back home to celebrate Tet and welcome workers back to work after Tet.”

According to Pham Quang Thanh, in 2022, many businesses had to cut orders, reduce production, resulting in tens of thousands of workers being underemployed, losing their jobs, and facing many difficulties.

In this context, Thanh stressed the Capital Trade Union has always accompanied union members and workers. In 2022, City Trade Union levels have earmarked from the Union budget over VND200 billion to take care and support over 130,000 employees. In particular, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2023, the Hanoi Labor Confederation has provided financial support for workers in difficult circumstances with a total amount of over VND48 billion; thereby, helping them to overcome difficulties, encouraging and motivating workers to stick with enterprises and trade union organizations to work harder toward higher productivity and quality.

On the occasion of the 2023 Lunar New Year, the Hanoi Labor Confederation helped over 1,000 workers from the Union of Industrial Parks and Export Processing Zones and the Trade Union of Hanoi textile and Garment Industry back to their hometowns to celebrate Tet with their family, with the following destinations: Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh and other northern provinces.

In addition, the Confederation of Labor of districts, towns and industry unions have also implemented and organized a program to provided free train tickets to bring disadvantaged workers in the area to their hometown to celebrate Tet with their family.
