On October 25, Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Dinh Tien Dung received a high-ranking delegation from the Senate of Cambodia, led by President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum.  

At the meeting, Party Secretary Dinh Tien Dung congratulated Cambodia on its great achievements in maintaining political stability, security, socio-economic development and constantly improving its international position.

The Secretary of the City Party Committee affirmed that Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular always are grateful for the good feelings, sharing and invaluable help that the leaders of the Cambodian Senate, the National Assembly, and Government have given to Vietnam.

Sharing an overview of Hanoi’s development, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung said that activities in the capital as well as other provinces and cities in Vietnam have fully reopened after effectively controlling the Covid-19 pandemic.

The economy maintained a high growth momentum. In the first 9 months of 2022 Hanoi recorded a growth of 9.69% of gross domestic product (GRDP), which is the highest increase in recent years.

Currently, Hanoi focuses on completing many important plans for long-term development, and at the same time, focuses on investing in 3 areas: education, health care, cultural and historical relics; thereby, determined to build and develop a modern and cultured capital; become the center and driving force for the development of the region and the whole country; involve in deep international integration, become highly competitive with the region and the world and a globally connected city with a high standard of living and quality of life.

The Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee emphasized that Hanoi is always interested in promoting cooperation activities with the Phnom Penh, for the strong development of both the capitals and the two countries. On that basis, Hanoi hopes Senate President Samdech Say Chhum will continue to pay attention to support and direct Cambodian ministries, branches and localities to create favorable conditions for Hanoi and Phnom Penh to expand and strengthen cooperation; effectively implement agreements.

Secretary of the Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung also hoped that the Cambodian Senate would continue to strengthen cooperation, exchange information and experience, and promote the effective implementation of the Vietnam – Cambodia Joint Statements, agreements between the two Parties, two countries.

For his part, President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum expressed his deep thanks to the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee for taking the time to receive the delegation, affirming that this visit to Vietnam is an opportunity for the two countries to strengthen ties and establish towards the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, as well as the Vietnam – Cambodia Friendship Year 2022.

The Cambodian Senate President believes that the results of the visit will contribute to consolidating and expanding the friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

On this occasion, the President of the Senate of Cambodia conveyed greetings from the leaders of Phnom Penh to Secretary of the Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung and leaders of Hanoi.

Within the framework of the meeting, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung, President of the Cambodian Senate Samdech Say Chhum and delegates of the two sides discussed a number of issues of mutual concern.
