Hanoi, South Korea boost cooperation in various fields

Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Duong Duc Tuan hosted a delegation from the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport (MOLIT) led by Deputy Minister YUN Seong Won on July 6.

At the reception, both sides discussed ways to further cooperation in developing urban and traffic infrastructures, including smart city and social housing projects, among others.

The two sides also put forth solutions to remove difficulties and create favorable conditions for South Korean firms to join in major projects for Hanoi’s development.

Expressing his thanks to Hanoi leaders for their welcome, Deputy Minister YUN Seong Won appreciated and stressed his belief in the positive economic outlook of Vietnam in general, and of Hanoi in particular.

He said that more South Korean businesses are interested in investing in projects in Hanoi.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Duong Duc Tuan informed that although the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in Hanoi has been complicated and unpredictable, the capital city has done its utmost to effectively realize the twin goal of containing the pandemic and maintaining socio-economic development.

He valued the long-standing strategic partnership between Vietnam and South Korea for many years, while expressing his hope that the two sides would enhance bilateral cooperation and work on major projects that could become symbols for the relations between Hanoi and South Korea.

According to Tuan, South Korea is currently Hanoi’s third-largest investor with a combined registered capital of US$7.77 billion.

The YUN’s visit to Vietnam this time aims to realize the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in 2018 among the MOLIT, Vietnam’s Ministry of Construction, and Ministry of Transport for greater cooperation in urban and transport infrastructure development.
