Tehran is considering whether or not to extend the temporary deal that allows the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to monitor its nuclear facilities, according to Iranian government spokesman Ali Rabii. The deal expired last week after two extensions. On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced that it had not made a decision on any agreement to monitor nuclear activities between Iran and the IAEA. Tehran also said that it has not yet decided whether to delete archived images from the camera system.

IAEA’s surveillance camera system and other surveillance tools were discussed at talks in Vienna to save the 2015 nuclear deal between Tehran and world powers, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Last December, Iran’s parliament passed a bill ending the IAEA’s inspection powers being February 21, unless the US eases sanctions. Since then, Iran has refused to provide real-time images from IAEA cameras. However, Iran and the IAEA then reached a temporary agreement to resume the agency’s inspection activities from February 23 to May 22. The two sides later extended this agreement until June 24.
