Israel opens first embassy in the Gulf

Israel’s Foreign Minister Yair Lapid on Tuesday inaugurated Israel’s embassy in Abu Dhabi, Israel’s first embassy in the Gulf, as he paid a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates. Lapid called the embassy opening historic and said it sends a signal of peace, adding that Israel wants peace with all its neighbors.

In August, 2020, Israel established full diplomatic relations with the UAE, following Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994. Since then, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, have also signed normalization agreements with Israel.
