PM urges for experience-innovation combination to develop agriculture

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called agricultural development one of the major tasks in Vietnam’s socio-economic development strategy as agriculture has been and will always be the backbone of the economy and a contributor to stabilizing people’s lives.

The Prime Minister on Wednesday attended a start-up and innovation event organized by the Vietnam National University of Agriculture in Hanoi. He emphasized high-quality human resources for agriculture, adding that for a country “taking farming as the root” like Vietnam, agricultural startups must rely on three pillars: Training to improve start-up capacity, creating a start-up environment, and providing capital and legal support for young people and those who want to start a business.

Prime Minister Chinh suggested that the Vietnam National University of Agriculture strive to become an innovation center, promote research and technology transfer, strengthen international cooperation, and contribute to solving immediate and strategic problems for the orientation of Vietnam’s agriculture.

He called on the students to have ambitions and ideals and equip themselves with professional and social knowledge and life skills in the open and competitive labor market.
