Prime Minister: Port design must catch up with new trend

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday reiterated five current trends of international port system as he worked with Lach Huyen International Container Port in Hai Phong city.  According to Mr. Chinh, first, shipping is still the cheapest and largest today. Second, the use of large ships is a new trend, so port design must be in line with this development trend. Management by digital technology is the third trend and human resources must meet the needs of digital technology management. Fourth, it is necessary to build a clean, green port that does not pollute the environment. Fifth, management and administration must be modern and must have modern people.

The Prime Minister assigned three construction units to implement the investment in the road system behind the ports in Lach Huyen area and Tan Vu – Lach Huyen 2 Bridge. They are Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company, Saigon Newport Corporation, and Hataco Joint Stock Company. He requested the Ministry of Transport to assign localities to manage inland waterway ports.
