UN General Assembly condemns Russia’s declaration of annexation of four Ukraine regions

 

 The United Nations General Assembly on Thursday voted to adopt a resolution condemning Russia’s declaration of annexation of four Ukraine regions.

The resolution, which received 143 votes in favor, 5 votes against, and 35 abstentions, calls on all countries, the UN, and international organizations not to recognize Russia’s declaration and asks Russia to immediately reverse its decision.

The resolution also applauds the efforts of the UN Secretary-General and UN members to de-escalate the current situation via dialogue, negotiation and mediation.
