The Vietnamese female team successfully defended their title at the Asian Beach Handball Championship in Bali, Indonesia, from March 10-19. The Vietnamese women won all five of their matches so far to win the tournament with a game to spare. Vietnam faced Hong Kong, the Philippines and the hosts in a two-leg round robin format group. They beat Hong Kong and the Philippines in both matches with the same score of 2-0.
On the men's side, Vietnam passed the group stage after four wins against Kuwait, China, Hong Kong and Indonesia. The team lost only one match against the top team of Oman. Vietnam lost 0-2 to Qatar in the semi-final match and were ousted from the race to the gold. They will vie for the bronze against Iran on Sunday afternoon.
