A ceremony was held in Hanoi on Tuesday for the pending 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine donated by the governments of France and Italy through the COVAX Facility. Deputy Foreign Minister To Anh Dung thanked the French and Italian governments and people for supporting Vietnam in their COVID-19 fight. This is evidence of the partnership between Vietnam and the two European countries as well as their friendship and solidarity to overcome the pandemic, he said.
Mr. Dung spoke highly of the initiative to set up the COVAX mechanism to ensure fair and equal access to COVID-19 vaccines around the globe, with France and Italy among leading EU donors.
