Vietnamese Professor Ngo Bao Chau and three other distinguished mathematicians who are not fulltime UK residents have been elected Honorary Members of the London Mathematical Society (LMS) for 2021.

The other members elected this year are Professor Laure Saint-Raymond of France’s Institut des Hautes Études Scientifiques (IHES), Professor Peter Sarnak of the Institute of Advanced Study, Princeton, USA, and Professor Ya-xiang Yuan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.

Established in 1865, the London Mathematical Society is one of the world’s oldest mathematical associations.
