125,000 people displaced in Mosul

125,000 Iraqis have been displaced since October when the government troops launched an offensive to retake Mosul city from the ISIS. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said on Wednesday that the rate of displacement from Mosul has increased markedly, with over 9,000 people having fled the city within four days following intensified military operations in Mosul from December 29.

An Iraqi senior commander from the Counter-Terrorism Service said on Sunday that his forces now controlled more than 60 percent of Mosul's eastern area.
