24 militants killed in Afghanistan’s fresh operations
24 militants loyal to Taliban were killed following military operations in the Afghanistan's southern province of Uruzgan, an official said Monday.
The operation was launched by army commandos in restive Dihrawud and Daychopan districts of the province on Sunday, according to Ahmad SadeqIsakhil, a press officer of Afghan army's 205-Atal Corps.
Security has improved in Uruzgan, the former stronghold of Taliban, over the last months, as security forces have conducted search and cordon operations across the province. But the militants attack government interests in the province from time to time.
