8 killed in attack on French drilling camp in Niger

A local official and seven employees of a French mineral and water drilling firm were killed early Thursday when gunmen attacked a drilling site in southeastern Niger.

A group of terrorists attacked the building where a team of Foraco drillers and technicians were resting in the village of Toumour, in southeastern Niger, the company said in a statement. According to a security source, the gunmen were believed to belong to Boko Haram, but an official at the scene said no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
