APEC FOOD SECURITY WEEK IN VIETNAM ADOPTS THREE DOCUMENTS

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam - In the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Food Security Week, which concluded in Vietnam's southern, Can Tho city on Friday, APEC member economies adopted three important documents.

The documents include the Action Plan to implement the Multi-Year Framework Programme on Food Security and Climate Change, the Action Plan to implement the Strategic Framework on Rural-Urban Development to Strengthen Food Security and Quality Growth, and the Can Tho Statement, on Enhancing Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture, in Response to Climate Change.

The Action Plan, to implement the Multi-Year Framework Programme on Food Security and Climate Change, is to realise the APEC Food Security Road map Towards 2020 and Bogor Goals 2020.

The Food Security Week was attended by two ministers, seven deputy ministers and nearly 700 delegates, from APEC member economies, international organisations and research institutes.

According to many delegates, the economies are faced with challenges related to the supply and demand for food.
