Army Corps 29 gathers former troops

PANO The Liaison Board of Army Corps 29 of Military Region 2 held a traditional gathering for its veterans on March 10 on the occasion of its 40th founding anniversary (March 10, 1979).

Present at the event were several senior officers, who used to serve in the unit, including General Luong Cuong, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, and General Do Ba Ty, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, among others. Army Corps 29 was established forty years ago to meet national defense requirements of that time. During the time protecting the Northern border, the corps' troops actively promoted solidarity, overcame hardship, and collaborated with local forces to firmly protect the national sovereignty.

During its 10-year existence and operation in the Northwestern area, the unit fulfilled all assigned missions with remarkable feats of arms, contributing to the resounding traditions of the military.

At the event, the Liaison Board handed over the unit's campaign medals to delegates.
