Brexit: UK government and Labour Party fail to reach consensus

Britain's opposition Labour Party said Monday that Prime Minister Theresa May has failed to gain support from the Party for her Brexit deal.

Labour's Sir Keir Starmer said more efforts must be made to reach an agreement. He said "the ball is in the government's court", adding that no further talks with Labour were scheduled for Monday.

The British government said an election for the European Parliament is slated to take place May 23, but the UK has not planned to participate because it still hopes to leave the EU beforehand.
