Cambodians cast ballots in general election
Cambodian voters went to the poll on Sunday to elect 125 members of the 6th National Assembly.
According to the Cambodian Election Committee (NEC), about 8.3 million voters registered to cast their ballots in the election which involves twenty political parties. The Ministry of Home Affairs said 80,000 police officers and soldiers have been deployed to ensure safety and security at polling stations. The election draws 500 international observers from 42 countries and 100 foreign reporters.
The preliminary result is expected to be announced on August 11 and the final result is scheduled to come four days later.
