Colombian government implements commitment with ELN

Colombian guerrilla group, the National Liberation Army or ELN, on Monday welcomed the national government of Juan Manuel Santos to realize its commitment to grant amnesty to two prisoners, the group's members.

This is one of two conditions the two sides reached to conduct peace talks next Tuesday towards ending the 50-year conflict.

On their Twitter account, the ELN praised the Colombian government's leniency. The freed prisoners will be members of the delegation to peace talks next month in Ecuador, the mediator country.

In response, the ELN will release politician Odin Sanchez, the leader of the Choco province, who was kept as hostage in August 2013. The release is considered the Colombian government's condition for a peace dialogue.
