Covid-19 claims 656,000 lives globally

 

 16.6 million people have been infected with the novel coronavirus, which has claimed more than 657,000 lives worldwide, according to the worldometers.info.

The virus is affecting 214 countries and territories around the world, with North Korea recently reported its first Covid-19 case. Some countries are facing the second and even third waves of the pandemic.

During the past 6 weeks, the number of Covid-19 infection cases  has doubled, said the general director of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The US has been the hardest-hit by the pandemic, with 4.4 million infected cases and 150,000 deaths, followed by Brazil.
