EU Summit approves Brexit agreement

European Council President Donald Tusk announced on Thursday that the European Union (EU) Summit has approved the Brexit agreement reached earlier that same day.

European Commission President Jean-Clauder Juncker expressed pleasure that the EU and UK had reached an agreement, but regretted that Brexit will still take place. In a related development, British MPs on Friday agreed to hold a special session of Parliament this Saturday to vote on the new Brexit deal. It will be the first Saturday session in 37 years. The MPs also agreed to change debate rules to allow more amendments before voting.
