Exhibition on victory over US air strikes opens in Hanoi

An exhibition highlighting the significance of the Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air victory opens in Hanoi on Tuesday.

300 photos, documents, and items feature the B52 air strikes and counter attacks by the Vietnamese ground defenses during 12 days and nights in December, 1972. The Vietnamese army shot down 81 US warplanes, 34 of them B52s. Major General Lam Quang Dai, political commissar of the Air Defense � Air Force of Vietnam, said: The Hanoi-Dien Bien Phu in the air victory was a heroic chapter in Vietnam's history of national construction and defense. The victory showed the creative leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, and the great sacrifices of the Vietnamese people and army.
