Global coronavirus death toll surpasses 287,000

 The death toll from coronavirus around the world had been over 287,000 while more than 4.27 million cases had been reported globally as of Tuesday afternoon, according to worldometers.info. 

COVID-19 has spread to 212 countries and territories. So far more than 1.5 million people have recovered.

The US is now the epicenter, with 1.39 million cases and 82,000 deaths, followed by Spain and the UK. 

1,300 more cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Mexico in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections there to 36,000, with 3,600 deaths, Mexico’s Ministry of Health reported. The death rate in Mexico is the highest in the Americas at 9.8%.

In India, the daily infection count hit a high of more than 4,200 cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to more than 67,000, including 2,200 deaths.

The COVID-19 death toll in France increased again on Monday with 263 cases within 24 hours. France has 22,300 people infected with the virus.
