Hanoi exchanges experience with Vientiane on trade union activities

On August 15, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen received a high-ranking delegation of the Vientiane’s Union of Trade Unions led by its chairman Dao Phet Aroune. At the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen highly appreciated the timing of the visit, which took place on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (September 5, 1962 – September 5, 2022) and 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between Vietnam and Laos (July 18, 1977 – July 18, 2022).

Particularly, the vist came right after the successful working trip of Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Vientiane Anouphap Tounalom to Hanoi.

After learning about the results of the working trip of the Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee, Tuyen affirmed that this is an activity that paved the way for the relationship between the two capitals in all fields, including cooperation between socio-political organizations.

For his part, Dao Phet Aroune affirmed that this visit by the high-ranking delegation of the Vientiane Union of Trade Unions is aimed at consolidating the solidarity, friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, the two States and the two peoples in general, as well as the two capitals and two trade unions in particular.

He said that the delegation had held talks with the Hanoi Labor Federation; signed a Memorandum of Understanding on friendship cooperation for period 2022-2027; attended the opening ceremony of a theoretical and professional training course on trade union work for officials of the Trade Union of Vientiane, Vientiane Province and Luang Prabang Province. Dao Phet Aroune emphasized, the knowledge gained from this class is very meaningful in solving difficulties related to labor management that Vientiane is facing, including labor immigration issues.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Thi Tuyen noted, during the meeting with Secretary of the Vientiane Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Vientiane Anouphap Tounalom, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highly appreciated the historical process of cooperation between the trade unions of the two capitals.

Tuyen emphasized that the annual cooperation activities have fostered the relationship between two peoples, two countries, two parties, between the working class of Vietnam and the working class of Laos, as well as of the two capitals.

Tuyen also suggested that, in order to properly meet the learning and understanding needs of the trade union officials of Vientiane, the training class in Hanoi should carefully discuss with the trainees on the process of managing migrant workers and workers in foreign-invested enterprises; experience in coordination between trade unions and other agencies.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee believes that the lecturers selected this time are all experienced professionals with long experience in the field of trade unions, who will definitely bring the best results to the class. Tuyen, however, requested the Hanoi Labor Confederation to prepare all necessary documents, effectively serving the research and research needs of Vientiane officials.
