HCM City celebrates 45 years of Vietnam-Malaysia relations

Ho Chi Minh City wants to further boost cooperation in multiple spheres with Malaysia, especially in trade, investment, technology, education, culture and tourism.

Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Thanh Liem made the remark at a ceremony marking 45 years of Vietnam-Malaysia diplomatic relations on Tuesday. Mr. Liem said Vietnam and Malaysia share many cultural similarities and their relationship has been further reinforced since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1973 and, especially after relations were elevated to the strategic partnership level in 2015.

Malaysian Consul General in HCM City Sofian Akmal Abd Karim said although HCM City has attracted one-third of Malaysian investments in Vietnam, the two sides' cooperation potential remains huge, particularly in education and tourism.
