HCM City, US seek to boost ties in human resources development

Ho Chi Minh City's leaders have urged American businesses to increase investment in the city's smart city building, technological development, and innovation.

At a meeting with Senior Vice President of the US-ASEAN Business Council (UABC) Michael Michalak on Monday, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan highly valued efforts by Michalak, a former US ambassador to Vietnam, to promote bilateral relations.

Michalak asked HCM City's authorities to create conditions for investment in education, training, and human resources development. The US is a leading trade partner of HCM City.

Bilateral trade reached 8.2 billion USD in 2018. With 400 projects worth 1 billion USD, the US ranks 10th among all countries and territories invested in HCMC.
