Helicopter flies patient ashore for treatment

PANO - Helicopter EC-225, numbered VN-8618, of Army Corps 18, on April 21 successfully flew a patient from Truong Sa island of Vietnam's Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago to the mainland for treatment.

Earlier, fisherman Tran De from Binh Thuan province was taken to Truong Sa island as he suffered from ileus on April 19 while fishing off the island.

However, doctors at the island infirmary found that his illness became worse so they decided the patient should be brought ashore for further treatment.

Receiving the information, Army Corps 18 assigned a helicopter to fly the troubled fisherman to Ho Chi Minh City-based Military Hospital 175, under the Defense Ministry, for further treatment.
