International donors have pledged 6.4 billion USD for Syria and refugees living in neighboring countries, falling short of a UN goal of 10 billion USD. European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic announced at a donor conference in Brussels on Tuesday that 4.4 billion USD will be paid out this year and 2 billion USD next year. In addition to these grants, international donors also announced loans of 7 billion USD.
Germany was the biggest donor – 2.04 billion USD. The US gave 600 million USD.
The UN raised 7 billion USD worth of humanitarian aid for Syria in 2019 and 2020.
